Start with the decision, not the dashboard
iGaming influencer attribution assigns credit for a defined player action to a creator touchpoint under agreed rules. It is not a count of every registration that happened while a campaign was running. Before choosing tracking tools, decide what the readout must support: renewing a creator, changing a landing page, comparing formats, or testing whether the channel brings new customers.
Separate delivery, attribution and incrementality. Delivery shows that the contracted content appeared and attracted attention. Attribution connects an observed action to a link, code or other eligible signal. Incrementality asks whether that action would have happened without the campaign. A campaign can perform well on one layer and remain unproven on another.
For a first test, choose one primary acquisition event and a small set of diagnostic metrics. A registration may be useful for finding landing-page friction, while a verified first-time depositor may be the commercial outcome. Never substitute the easier event for the contracted outcome after results arrive.
Write an event dictionary both teams can use
Give each event a definition, source of truth, timestamp, identifier and owner. The sample below is an operating starting point, not a universal operator specification. Your analytics, compliance and commercial teams need to agree what “qualified” means for the actual product and permitted market.
Do not send personal information or raw payment details in tracking URLs. Keep customer-level reconciliation inside the operator’s controlled systems, with appropriate access and retention rules. A creator report usually needs aggregate outcomes, not a list of players.
| Event | Count it when | System of record |
|---|---|---|
| Landing session | A tagged visit reaches the approved destination. Define bot and repeat-session treatment. | Web analytics; analytics owner |
| Registration | One new account completes the agreed registration step. Exclude test accounts. | Operator account database; product owner |
| Verified account | The operator records the required verification as complete. | Operator verification status; operations owner |
| Qualified first deposit | A new eligible account meets the contracted deposit, verification and fraud criteria. | Operator ledger and qualification rules; acquisition owner |
| Cohort value | Calculate revenue or contribution for the same cohort and age, and define the deductions. | Finance-approved reporting; finance owner |
Keep event time separate from the report export date. A late qualification can update a cohort without becoming a new customer. Use a stable event or account key to prevent repeated imports from increasing the count. Record reversals instead of silently overwriting yesterday’s totals.
Give each creator and placement a traceable link
A tagged URL should identify the campaign, channel and individual placement. Use a stable creator ID rather than a display name that can change. Maintain one link register containing the approved destination, owner, code, publishing slot and final live post URL. Google’s campaign URL guidance explains how UTM values appear in acquisition reporting; it does not make those visits proof of incremental customers.
Here is a hypothetical naming example, not a live operator URL. The source identifies the platform, while content distinguishes creator, format and version. Keep spelling and case consistent across the register and reports.
https://operator.example/campaign
?utm_source=youtube
&utm_medium=creator
&utm_campaign=autumn_launch
&utm_content=cr017_integration_v1Test the entire path from the published placement: link, redirect, consent choice, landing page, registration and approved test event. A functioning redirect can still discard tracking parameters. Desktop success does not establish that an app handoff or mobile browser preserves attribution.
Creator codes can provide a second signal when a viewer returns later or changes device. But viewers can share codes, coupon pages may list them, and existing customers can use them. Store code usage as its own evidence field; do not automatically treat every code redemption as a new creator-acquired player.

Set the attribution window and conflict rules before buying
Choose the period in which a touchpoint may receive credit and the rule used when several touchpoints exist. For example, a campaign could use the last eligible creator click within a stated window for payment reconciliation. That is a negotiated operating choice, not a recommendation that every operator should use the same window.
Write down what wins when a player clicks creator A, later clicks creator B, and enters A’s code. Also decide how existing affiliate claims, paid search and direct return visits interact with creator reporting. A useful report can show several assisting touchpoints while awarding only one payable acquisition under the agreed commercial rule.
Separate your campaign settlement rule from the analytics platform’s reporting model. Different models, lookback windows and event definitions can produce different totals without either export being corrupted. Save the configuration with the report so a later settings change does not masquerade as a performance improvement.
Reconcile duplicates before calculating acquisition cost
The following numbers are deliberately hypothetical. They illustrate the arithmetic, not a 3betmedia result or an iGaming benchmark. Assume a campaign costs €12,000 in total, including talent, production and management. The operator reports 100 otherwise qualified first-time depositors linked to eligible clicks and 40 linked to creator codes; 25 appear in both lists.
| Calculation | Result | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| 100 click-linked + 40 code-linked − 25 overlapping | 115 unique qualified players | Deduplicate with an approved internal key, not by adding dashboard totals. |
| €12,000 ÷ 115 | €104.35 per qualified player | All-in campaign cost under this attribution rule. |
| €12,000 ÷ 140 before deduplication | €85.71 (misleading) | Double-counting overlap makes the campaign look cheaper. |
Deduplication only removes overlap. It does not establish that the creator activity caused all 115 player acquisitions. Nor does it settle whether every code-only player qualifies for payment. Apply the contract’s eligibility and conflict rules first, then report the final denominator and any exclusions beside the cost calculation.
If the fee model uses a different cost basis, show it separately. Talent-only acquisition cost and all-in acquisition cost answer different questions. Combining one creator’s talent fee with another creator’s full production allocation makes a ranking difficult to defend.
Show coverage gaps instead of forcing attribution
Unmatched does not mean worthless, and attributed does not mean certain. Cross-device journeys, consent choices, shared codes, delayed conversions and untracked mentions all limit visibility. Report the size of the unassigned pool alongside the tracked result; avoid allocating every unknown event to creators simply because spend increased that week.
Use post-registration surveys as a separate self-reported signal where appropriate. Store the wording and response rate, and distinguish “heard about us from” from the last action that brought someone to the website. Survey responses should inform interpretation rather than be quietly merged into a directly observed conversion total.
When incrementality is the actual buying question, consider a properly designed holdout or staggered test with qualified analysis. Comparable groups, sufficient volume and stable market conditions matter. A before-and-after chart around a major sports event cannot isolate creator impact from seasonality, offer changes and other media.
Compare cohorts at the same age
A player who registered yesterday has had less time to qualify or return than one acquired three weeks ago. Group results by acquisition period and report the same maturity window for each cohort. Label incomplete cohorts as provisional. Do not make a newer creator look worse by comparing their day-two revenue with another creator’s day-thirty revenue.
The final readout should connect delivery, attention, eligible visits, registrations, qualified players and the agreed value metric. Every rate needs a denominator. Registration-to-qualified rate is not click-to-qualified rate; both can be useful if they are named correctly.
End with a decision that follows from the evidence. Strong visits but weak registration completion may justify investigating the destination. Good qualification but inadequate volume may support a controlled second test. Broken tracking calls for repair, not a confident declaration that the creator failed.
Run a pre-launch measurement rehearsal
Before any creator goes live, ask the analytics owner to walk a test event through the entire system. Confirm the link register, consent-aware collection, event dictionary, timestamp timezone, duplicate handling and the final reporting export. Use approved test accounts and clearly exclude them from commercial reporting.
Have the commercial owner confirm the payable-event definition, attribution window, overlap rule, reconciliation date and dispute process. Have the campaign owner confirm who captures delivery evidence and who can pause a broken destination. These are different responsibilities; naming one vague “reporting owner” often leaves the handoffs uncovered.
Keep a versioned measurement specification with the signed scope. After launch, log changes rather than retroactively revising the rules. The aim is not a dashboard with no unknowns. It is a report whose numbers can be traced, whose limitations are visible, and whose next action is clear.
When finance asks what the attributed cohort cost to acquire, use the casino creator CAC worksheet to reconcile campaign spend with eligible first depositors.
When the question is whether the campaign added customers rather than which interaction received credit, use the creator incrementality test plan to design a comparison.
Frequently asked questions
What is iGaming influencer attribution?
It assigns credit for a defined player action to a creator touchpoint under rules agreed before launch. It is not a count of every registration that happened while the campaign ran. Keep three layers apart: delivery shows the content appeared, attribution connects an action to a link, code or other eligible signal, and incrementality asks whether the action would have happened anyway.
Should creator code redemptions count as new players?
Not automatically. Codes are a useful second signal when a viewer returns later or switches device, but viewers share them, coupon pages list them and existing customers can redeem them. Store code usage as its own evidence field, deduplicate it against click-linked players with an approved internal key, and apply the contract's eligibility and conflict rules before counting anyone as creator-acquired.
How do you avoid double counting players in iGaming creator reports?
Deduplicate with a stable account or event key instead of adding dashboard totals. In a hypothetical EUR 12,000 campaign with 100 click-linked and 40 code-linked qualified depositors, 25 overlapping, there are 115 unique players at EUR 104.35 each, while skipping deduplication shows a misleading EUR 85.71. Record reversals rather than overwriting totals; deduplication removes overlap but does not prove causation.
Which attribution window should an iGaming creator campaign use?
There is no universal window; it is a negotiated operating choice. A campaign might, for example, credit the last eligible creator click within a stated period for payment reconciliation. Before buying, write down what wins when a player clicks creator A, later clicks creator B and enters A's code, and how affiliate claims, paid search and direct return visits interact. Save that configuration with every report.
Why can a newer creator look worse in early iGaming revenue reports?
Often because the comparison uses cohorts of unequal age. A player who registered yesterday has had less time to qualify or return than one acquired three weeks ago, so compare cohorts at the same maturity window and label incomplete ones provisional. An iGaming influencer marketing agency report should name every denominator and end with the decision the evidence supports, such as repairing broken tracking.
