iGaming creator campaign brief

The brief is the handoff between commercial intent and publishable content. It must be precise about facts, restrictions and delivery while leaving the creator room to communicate in a way their audience recognises.

Open with the campaign decision

State the audience, eligible markets, product, objective, qualifying action and why this creator was selected. This gives context for every instruction that follows.

Avoid a long brand-history preamble. The creator needs the audience problem and the job of the content first.

Separate fixed and flexible elements

Fixed elements include approved facts, offer terms, destination, disclosure, responsible-marketing language, prohibited claims and deliverables. Flexible elements include examples, pacing, humour, storytelling and the creator’s normal visual language.

Label them. A creator should not have to infer which sentence is legally required and which is a creative suggestion.

Define delivery so it can be checked

Specify format, length or live duration, integration position, links, on-screen assets, revision rounds, approval timing, publication window, usage rights and make-goods.

Include technical specifications only when they affect acceptance. Generic requests for ‘high quality’ do not help a creator produce or a manager approve.

Attach the measurement and escalation plan

Provide tagged URLs, creator codes where permitted, event definitions and publication evidence required. Name contacts for creative questions, compliance escalation and live incidents.

Version the brief and approval. When an offer or destination changes, record what changed rather than overwriting the campaign history.

Use a brief the creator can read in one sitting

Put the audience task and approved message at the top. Background about the brand belongs below the information needed to produce the asset. A creator should be able to identify what they are making, who it is for, what must remain accurate and which parts they can interpret in their own voice.

Keep mandatory requirements distinct from suggestions. If every sentence looks compulsory, the creator will either produce a stiff read or miss a genuine constraint. Mark the source for product claims and include examples of statements that need review rather than asking the creator to infer legal boundaries.

Replace every general label with an actual owner or agreed rule. A brief containing “TBC” for the destination or approval contact is not ready to issue, even if the creative idea is complete.

Make revision requests traceable

Number the versions and consolidate feedback through one person. Separate a factual correction from a new creative preference so the creator can see what changed and why. If the brand changes the approved product claim after a shoot, treat the resulting work as a scope discussion rather than an invisible extra revision.

At sign-off, retain the final creative, caption, disclosure and destination together. The last approved video file alone is not the whole publishing package. This record becomes the reference for checking live delivery and for deciding whether a later cutdown needs a new review.

A filled example: explain a feature without inventing a result

Here is a hypothetical brief direction for an adult audience in an approved market: explain where to find a named account feature in the current product interface. The job is product comprehension, not a claim that using the feature improves a viewer’s financial outcome. The exact product, audience and destination still need the operator’s review before a real campaign can use this structure.

The mandatory facts could include the feature’s current name, where it is located and any relevant limitations supplied by the product team. The creator can choose a natural opening question, pacing and phrasing within that boundary. The brief should explicitly exclude invented personal results and unsupported statements about ease, certainty or reward.

The production attachment contains current screens, a safe demonstration path and an approved destination. The delivery attachment names the aspect ratio, duration range, caption requirements, posting account and deadline. Those details make acceptance possible: the reviewer can tell whether the delivered asset matches the scope without inventing a new standard after the shoot.

For review, the product owner checks interface accuracy, the qualified reviewer checks the relevant claims and presentation requirements, and one campaign lead consolidates the response. If the product changes during production, the lead marks the old screen as obsolete and supplies the replacement. The creator should not have to infer which of several attachments is now authoritative.

At publication, verify the actual caption, disclosure and destination alongside the video. The reporting request should separate delivery evidence from audience and acquisition results. If the campaign only purchases an asset for brand-owned use, do not ask the creator to provide distribution metrics they never agreed to generate. A good brief keeps the audience job, the production scope and the measurement expectation aligned from the first message to the final readout.
