How Stake, Rollbit and Duelbits acquire players with streamers

The big crypto casinos acquire players by paying streamers to gamble live on their sites with a sign-up code on screen, then pushing clips across short-form platforms, and Stake's founders also backed their own streaming platform, Kick. A licensed operator can copy the codes, clip rights and per-deposit payment, but not undisclosed house-funded balances or audiences in markets it cannot serve. This breakdown keeps confirmed facts apart from reported ones.

What the big crypto casinos built: live play, a code on screen, clips everywhere else

The streamer-led model has four parts. A streamer gambles live on the casino for long sessions. A sign-up link and promo code sit on the channel page. Clips from the stream are redistributed as short-form video. The streamer is paid through some mix of fee, commission on referred players and supplied balance.

Bloomberg Businessweek's February 2026 investigation into Stake documents each part. It reported that sponsored streamers tend to post Stake sign-up links and promo codes on their Kick pages, that clippers were paid $500 per million views until Stake raised the bounty to $800, and that some influencers with Stake partnerships receive as much as $10,000 for every Instagram reel clipped from Kick. It also reported that Kick, since its debut in December 2022, has helped boost Stake's traffic more than fivefold.

The code does two jobs. It is the attribution layer and the payment basis: Bloomberg describes one affiliate's income as a cut of the bets made by people who signed up with his referral code.

A smaller operator cannot copy the scale or own a streaming platform. It can copy the architecture: one code per streamer, clip rights agreed in writing, and payment that moves toward the players a code produces. That architecture is what a crypto casino marketing agency should build for a licensed brand.

Twitch's 2022 ban on unlicensed slots sites and the move to Kick

Twitch announced on 20 September 2022 that from 18 October 2022 it would prohibit streaming of sites that offer slots, roulette or dice games and are not licensed in the US or in other jurisdictions with sufficient consumer protection. NPR reported that the policy named Stake.com, Rollbit.com, Duelbits.com and Roobet.com, and that sports betting, fantasy sports and poker remained allowed. Twitch already banned sharing links or referral codes to sites with slots, roulette or dice. The trigger was the Sliker case, in which a streamer reportedly obtained at least $200,000 from people to fund his gambling.

In August 2023 Twitch added Blaze and Gamdom to the list and said gambling viewership had dropped by roughly 75% since the policy took effect. We found no later named additions. The Twitch gambling sponsorship rules page covers how to review a placement against the current wording.

Kick opened in beta in December 2022 with a 95/5 revenue split for streamers. NBC News reported it is backed by Stake co-founders Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani. In June 2023 The New York Times reported a two-year xQc deal with Kick worth roughly $70 million, with incentives that could take it to about $100 million; NBC News described it as non-exclusive. The Twitch versus Kick comparison sets out how to choose between the two for a given market.

Deal structures in the market, reported and confirmed

Five structures recur in public reporting. Values are rarely confirmed by the parties, so treat every figure below as reported.

  • Platform contracts. The xQc deal with Kick is the reference case; NBC News reported that the terms of Amouranth's Kick contract were not public.
  • Ambassador deals. Drake signed with Stake in 2022, a deal the Financial Times reported at $100 million a year, citing two people familiar with the matter. Roobet announced Snoop Dogg as an ambassador in March 2023 and, in January 2026, TimTheTatman, who streams Roobet on Kick. Esports.net reported that no payment terms were disclosed.
  • Hourly or per-stream fees. Bloomberg reported five-figure-per-hour deals, with some Stake streamers live for as long as 15 hours a day.
  • Supplied balances. Bloomberg reported that Trainwreckstv described "fill" deals, in which Stake supplies the streamer's balance and winnings cannot all be withdrawn.
  • Code plus commission or cashback. The code earns the streamer a share of referred players' activity and gives the viewer a reward. Decrypt reported that crypto influencer Gainzy promoted a Rollbit referral link returning 10% of sportsbook losses, before moving to Stake in September 2023.

Esports team sponsorship sits alongside these. Team Liquid named Duelbits a global betting partner for its CS2 roster in December 2025, and 100 Thieves returned to CS2 in November 2025 as 100 Thieves Roobet, drawing fan backlash reported by Esports.net.

Stake, Rollbit, Duelbits and Roobet compared on public evidence

The table separates what each brand's programme looks like from how much of it is documented. Confidence reflects the sources, not the size of the brand.

StakeKick, backed by Stake's co-foundersAmbassadors, sponsored streamers, promo codes, clip bounties, supplied balancesDrake deal reported by the Financial Times; codes on Kick pages, clipper rates and fill deals reported by Bloomberg BusinessweekHigh on structure, reported only on values
RollbitNamed in Twitch's 2022 ban; no current platform documentedSponsored influencers with referral links and cashbackCrypto influencer Gainzy's sponsorship and a referral link returning 10% of sportsbook losses, reported by Decrypt in 2023Low, thin public detail

For Rollbit and Duelbits the public record on streamer terms is thin. We have not filled the gap with forum claims or affiliate-site estimates, and an operator benchmarking against them should not either.

What a licensed operator can copy

Most of what makes the big programmes work is plumbing, and plumbing transfers to a licensed brand at any size.

  • One code and one landing page per streamer, shown on screen and on the channel page.
  • Clips planned from the start, with recording access, edit approval and paid-use rights written into the contract rather than assumed.
  • Payment that shifts toward players: a fee per stream for the first term, then a lower fee plus a payment per verified first deposit for streamers whose codes convert.
  • A fixed schedule. Long, frequent sessions keep a code in front of the same viewers; a licensed brand gets a similar effect from a fixed weekly slot.
  • Team and community sponsorship framed around responsible play. Team Liquid described the focus of its Duelbits deal as education and responsibility.

Our casino streamer marketing service is built on this plumbing and scoped to the markets a brand is licensed in.

What a licensed operator should not copy

Several practices associated with the crypto casinos are now the subject of lawsuits, regulator action or investigative reporting. They are risks for any brand.

  • House-funded balances without disclosure. A Missouri class action filed in October 2025 alleges that Stake.us fronted Drake and Adin Ross house money, creating a false impression that they gambled their own funds. These are allegations, and we found no reported ruling. FTC guidance says creators should disclose the relationship if they got anything of value to mention a product, and repeat it periodically on live streams.
  • Win-only highlights. Bloomberg reported that Drake hit big wins on Easygo-made slots about four times as often as average. Stake called the findings "categorically incorrect". Either way, a clip feed of wins misrepresents the product.
  • Unlicensed markets. Stake withdrew from Great Britain in March 2025 during a Gambling Commission investigation into a video by an account claiming to be a Stake affiliate. TGP Europe, the licensee whose white-label Stake had used, faced a £3.3 million penalty and surrendered its licence, CMS reported. Section 330 of the Gambling Act 2005 prohibits advertising unlawful gambling. California's AB 831 bans the offering and promotion of sweepstakes gaming from 1 January 2026.
  • Under-18 audiences. UK rules since 1 October 2022 bar gambling ads likely to be of strong appeal to under-18s, including through influencers.

The gambling influencer compliance guide covers these rules market by market.

Measure the programme on first deposits and 30-day value, inside licensed markets

A streamer programme is measured at the player, not the viewer. The minimum tracking:

  • Registrations and first deposits on each streamer's code within a fixed window after each stream.
  • 30-day net gaming revenue per deposit cohort, so one-time bonus depositors do not look like acquisition.
  • Full cost per first deposit, including fees, clip payments and any supplied balance, which is a marketing cost and should be booked as one.
  • Viewer geography against your licence. Ask for the platform's country split before signing and block registrations from markets you cannot serve.
  • Clip views reported separately from code activity, so a widely shared clip is not mistaken for conversion.

Platform risk belongs in the same sheet. In June 2023 Greece's Hellenic Gaming Commission added Kick.com to its blacklist, and Kick said an ISP block on one channel had caught the whole domain. Our guide to casino streamers that convert players covers the per-stream log and the renewal rule.

What to bring to a first planning call

The markets you hold licences in and the platforms you can use. The deposit offer and how it may be described on stream. Whether your registration flow verifies age and identity with ID, since Kick's February 2025 rule limits gambling streams to sites that verify viewers that way. Your current cost per first deposit from affiliates, so the programme has a ceiling.

Any streamers already on a code, with their stream logs and code exports. Your disclosure wording and who approves clips. The streamer sponsorship contract template is a starting point for terms, and Kick streamer sponsorship management covers booking and delivery on Kick.

3betmedia is not affiliated with Stake, Rollbit, Duelbits, Roobet or Kick. We use their public record as reference, and we will say plainly when a streamer's audience sits outside the markets you can serve.

Frequently asked questions

How do crypto casinos like Stake acquire players through streamers?

Through sponsored streamers who gamble live on the site with a promo code and sign-up link on their channel, clips redistributed on short-form platforms, and payment through fees, ambassador deals, commission on referred players or supplied balances. Bloomberg Businessweek reported that Stake's sponsored streamers post codes on their Kick pages and that Stake paid clippers per million views.

Why did Stake, Rollbit and Duelbits streams leave Twitch?

From 18 October 2022 Twitch prohibited streaming of slots, roulette and dice sites not licensed in the US or in other jurisdictions with sufficient consumer protection, and named Stake.com, Rollbit.com, Duelbits.com and Roobet.com. Blaze and Gamdom were added in August 2023. Kick, which opened in beta in December 2022, allows gambling content under its own rules, including an ID verification requirement for streamed sites.

Can a licensed operator legally copy the crypto casino streamer model?

The mechanics, such as per-streamer codes, clips and per-deposit payment, can be used in markets where the operator is licensed and streamer advertising is allowed. Promoting into markets where the operator is unlicensed, using creators with strong appeal to under-18s, or hiding house-funded balances creates legal and regulatory risk. Check each market's rules with qualified advisers before any stream goes live.

What is a fill deal in casino streaming?

Bloomberg Businessweek reported that some Stake streamers have opted into what Trainwreckstv called fill deals, in which the casino supplies the streamer's balance and the streamer cannot withdraw all winnings. Viewers may assume the balance is the streamer's own money. FTC guidance says anything of value received to promote a product should be disclosed, so a supplied balance needs clear disclosure on stream.

How should an operator measure a casino streamer programme?

By first deposits on each streamer's code within a fixed window, 30-day net gaming revenue per deposit cohort, and full cost per first deposit including fees, clip payments and any supplied balance. Check viewer geography against licensed markets before signing and block registrations from markets you cannot serve. Viewer counts and clip views show reach, not acquisition.
