Commission the creator behind the avatar
This guide is for a brand buying a sponsored broadcast from a human creator using an existing virtual persona. It is not an audition, a job listing, an avatar-design order or a voice-cloning service. Start with a named channel and a clear role for the performer.
There is an actual commercial market for this work. VOTUAS offers corporate VTuber casting and sponsorship formats. COVER lists livestreams and digital IP collaborations separately. Those offers establish useful buying distinctions; they do not establish that either supplier is a 3betmedia partner or that a particular talent is available.
The streamer sponsorship management scope covers matching, briefs and delivery checks. Bring the proposed VTuber format for a suitability discussion. A general creator network is not evidence of access to any agency’s roster, character or current calendar.
Send the enquiry to someone who can approve the scope
Ask the creator’s published business contact who handles the performance booking and who approves use of the character. Sometimes one person can answer both questions. If a manager or separate rights holder must approve an edit, identify that dependency before treating a quote as complete.
Keep the request focused on professional contact details and the work. A public persona does not give a sponsor a reason to request a face reveal, disclose a private identity or ask for model-source files. Use the contracting process for information genuinely needed to pay the supplier, with access limited to the appropriate people.
Do not treat fan permissions as a commercial licence. For example, hololive’s current derivative-work guidelines limit that route to fan or hobby activity and prohibit business or corporate use. That is a rule for its content, not a statement about every independent VTuber. Ask for the actual approval covering your proposed use.
Record what each approval actually covers
Use a written record that distinguishes the live performance from later uses of the character, voice and recording. The table below is an original buying aid. It does not assert ownership, grant rights or replace review of the supplier’s terms.
| Item | Decision before booking | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|---|
| Performance | Named channel, date, live segment and product task | Accepted scope and booking contact |
| Character | Avatar version, permitted presentation and approver | Approval for the actual proposed use |
| Scene | Sponsor overlay, avatar position and disclosure | Reviewed scene capture |
| Recording | VOD availability and source delivery | Agreed archive window and file terms |
| Reuse | Organic clip, paid ad or other named placement | Permission, duration, edit limits and expiry |
Put a question mark beside an unconfirmed item. A signed performance booking does not answer every line automatically. Use the streamer sponsorship contract guide to carry the accepted delivery and permission scope into the agreement.

Check the channel and the actual broadcast scene
Watch recent full broadcasts in the intended language. Assess how the performer explains the product, handles chat and manages an interruption. Keep average live viewers, peak concurrency and later recording views separate. An attractive character design does not establish audience location, age or buying intent.
Request the proposed scene with the current avatar and sponsor assets together. Check that the character, chat, captions and disclosure remain legible when the creator changes layouts. Agree who can move the avatar or overlay during the stream and what happens if that change obscures a required message.
For a game studio, the game-launch hiring guide covers the playable build and publishing commitment. Avatar approval adds another dependency; it does not replace access to the actual product. A virtual presentation also does not change whether the product, destination and audience are suitable for the chosen platform.
Price the approved uses and disclose the partnership
Ask for comparable written quotes against the same live segment and reuse request. Separate creator preparation, broadcast delivery, an approved scene change and any additional recording or edit. Leave an optional character redesign outside the order unless the responsible supplier has actually agreed to produce and clear it.
Do not infer permission for paid advertising from permission to keep a VOD online. Name the proposed account, format, duration and changes for every later use. Synthetic voice reuse, model training and editable avatar files require their own explicit discussion; they are not a routine by-product of buying a stream.
For endorsements affecting US consumers, FTC guidance calls for clear disclosure with the endorsement and periodic repetition during a livestream. Use an understandable spoken message and visible placement appropriate to the broadcast, alongside the platform’s relevant tools. Review the actual destination’s current rules; an avatar is not an exception to disclosure.
A hypothetical overlay blocks the disclosure
Suppose a fictional game studio approves a sponsored segment showing a creator’s bird avatar beside gameplay. The rehearsal uses one layout. During the live show, the creator switches to a close-up scene and the larger avatar covers the sponsor disclosure.
The agreed response is to restore the visible message and repeat the spoken disclosure. The delivery record notes when the scene changed and when it was corrected. If part of the agreed integration was missing, resolve that against the booking terms rather than silently marking the full segment accepted.
A later brand clip needs another check: the crop may remove the disclosure even when the original stream displayed it. Review the accepted edit and its permission scope before publication. This is an invented rehearsal and acceptance example, not a reported incident or a promise that a particular correction settles every obligation.
Close the booking against the agreed evidence
Use the broadcast delivery checklist to retain the VOD, integration timestamps and accepted scene record. Confirm any promised archive window and the approved clip version. Keep the creator’s private model files and personal information out of the campaign report.
Separate completed production from audience results. A delivered stream does not establish purchases, qualified customers or deposits. Use the brand’s actual measurement window for those outcomes, and leave unavailable attribution unknown.
Bring the product, channel format, proposed character use, timing and desired clips to the hiring call. Those inputs support a practical creator brief. Talent acceptance, permissions and the final quote still need confirmation; this page promises none of them.
Frequently asked questions
Does hiring a VTuber include a new avatar or model files?
No. This guide concerns a human creator performing through an existing avatar. Specify any design, rigging or editable-file delivery separately with the responsible supplier. A sponsorship commission does not establish ownership of the character.
Can a brand use the sponsored stream in paid ads?
Only when the agreed permission covers that use. Confirm the channel, placement, duration and permitted edits with whoever can approve the character and recording. A VOD archive and a paid advertising licence answer different requests.
Does a virtual avatar remove the need to disclose a sponsorship?
No. Review the endorsement and destination rules for the actual market. For relevant US-facing live endorsements, FTC guidance calls for clear disclosure and periodic repetition so people joining partway through can understand the relationship.
