Define the decision before collecting answers
A report for an agency shortlist asks different questions from one about a wallet’s supported networks or a casino offer’s availability. State whose decision the answers should support. Then define the brands, products, markets and languages that belong in the comparison. A name appearing outside that scope should not automatically improve the score.
Separate a question that names your brand from an unbranded category question. “What does this agency offer?” checks an existing identity. “Which agency can manage this creator requirement?” checks consideration among alternatives. Combining both in one headline percentage hides the difference.
The report is an observation of the tested conditions. It is not a measure of every conversation on the platform, total market demand or the number of prospective customers. Keep that boundary in the first page of the report, where a budget owner will see it.
Build the question set from actual buyer language
Start with approved sales questions, anonymised support themes, site-search language and relevant Search Console queries. Record where each question came from. Remove personal details, private client context and confidential campaign terms before sending a question to an external service.
Where real questions are sparse, label an editorially proposed question as proposed. Do not report a vendor-selected prompt list as proof of how often buyers ask those questions. Keep branded diagnostics separate from unbranded selection questions and version the set when the product or buyer task changes.
| Decision | Illustrative question | Expected source to check |
|---|---|---|
| Service fit | Which providers can coordinate creator production for this campaign? | Current service scope |
| Cost scope | What should a creator campaign quote include? | Published pricing and a written proposal |
| Market fit | What facts should a creator brief state about audience eligibility? | Official product terms and the applicable review |
| Proof | How should a buyer assess a reported campaign result? | Method, window and underlying evidence |
| Delivery | Who approves edits and receives the final assets? | The agreed production and handoff record |
Use the same question set for a comparison period unless there is a documented reason to change it. A new service can justify new questions. In that case, show the original set and the expanded set separately rather than calling the larger denominator an improvement or decline.
Preserve a run log somebody else can inspect
| Field | Record | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Question | Exact text, set version and question ID | Makes the tested request identifiable |
| Environment | Service, interface, visible model label, account state, language and location context | Explains which experience was observed |
| Mode | Search enabled or disabled, and any visible settings | Separates different retrieval conditions |
| Session | Fresh session or stated preceding context | Exposes context carried into an answer |
| Time | Run time and reporting cutoff | Keeps changes tied to a period |
| Response | Saved unedited answer and visible source URLs | Lets another reviewer audit classification |
| Classification | Mention, citation, recommendation and factual-error findings | Prevents one label from standing for everything |
| Run status | Completed, failed, refused or otherwise unavailable | Keeps exclusions visible |
If the interface does not expose an exact underlying model version, record the visible label and mark the version unknown. Do not fill the gap with a guess. A comparison can still be useful when its limitations are explicit.
Use repeated runs chosen before the review, with a bounded collection schedule. Leave failed requests in the log and use a defined retry rule. Retrying only unfavorable answers until a good one appears creates a biased sample. A refusal is also a completed observation when that is the response the service supplied.

Report separate measures with explicit denominators
Count a mention when the tested answer names the intended brand. Count a citation when a visible source points to an identified page or explicitly attributes a statement under the report’s declared rule. Distinguish citations to the brand’s domain from third-party coverage. Count a recommendation only when the answer actually presents the brand as suitable for the stated requirement.
Apply the same classification to every brand being compared. An answer can contain several brands, so mention rates can sum to more than 100% across brands. A recommendation that names the brand while warning against the relevant use case requires a qualifier; it should not become an unqualified favorable outcome.
For a within-brand rate, divide completed responses containing the observation by the completed responses in the declared question group. Also show scheduled and failed runs. If the team reports share across competing brands instead, state whether the denominator is responses, mentions or another unit. Those measures are not interchangeable.
Use a second reviewer or a repeatable rubric for disputed labels. Save the relevant response passage with the decision. An attractive chart is less valuable than a classification another person can reproduce from the same answer.
Read a hypothetical result without changing its meaning
Suppose an invented test schedules 24 runs for one question group. Two requests fail, leaving 22 completed responses. The brand appears in nine responses, its own domain is cited in four, and it receives a relevant recommendation in three. These are hypothetical observations, not 3betmedia results or platform benchmarks.
| Measure | Calculation | Limited interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Mention rate | 9 / 22 = 40.9% | The name appeared in nine completed responses |
| Owned-domain citation rate | 4 / 22 = 18.2% | Four completed responses cited the brand’s domain |
| Relevant recommendation rate | 3 / 22 = 13.6% | Three completed responses recommended the brand for the stated task |
| Collection failures | 2 / 24 = 8.3% | Two scheduled requests did not produce an observed answer |
If one cited answer describes an expired offer, report that error next to the citation. Counting the link alone would reward an answer that could mislead a reader. If next month uses a larger question set or a different search mode, show that change before comparing rates.
These counts do not establish an audience size, statistical significance or an effect caused by a content edit. A small difference can reflect answer variation, source changes or collection conditions. Report the observed difference and the unresolved explanations; do not attach a causal lift claim to a before-and-after screenshot.
Keep platform reporting and referrals in their own lanes
Where available, use the publisher reports provided by each platform. Bing Webmaster Tools documents AI Performance reporting for citation visibility; Google documents how its AI features relate to Search Console reporting. Read the definitions and coverage of the actual report you use. Their counts are not interchangeable with a manually tested question panel.
A source link in an assistant’s answer is something a reviewer can inspect, not a complete analytics record of all brand appearances. Preserve the visible answer and its response conditions without claiming access to unseen user queries.
A website visit, enquiry or depositing-player event is a different observation. Use the creator campaign reporting framework to keep delivery, discovery, referrals and defined business events separate. A citation may receive no click, and a referral does not by itself demonstrate that the person saw a specific creator asset.
The campaign UTM naming record helps identify traffic from links you control. Do not assume an assistant will preserve tracking parameters, and do not put private customer information in them. Report missing or ambiguous referral attribution as a limitation rather than replacing it with an inferred lead count.
Turn incorrect answers into a source-repair queue
Classify the issue before assigning work: wrong product identity, expired offer, unsupported service claim, inaccurate quotation, missing source or an unsuitable recommendation. Name the source the answer actually used where it is visible. A mistake drawn from third-party coverage needs a different repair from one repeated from your own stale page.
For iGaming, prioritize incorrect availability and offer conditions over minor brand wording. For crypto, check network identity, current product behavior and the limits of cited audit material. In both cases, verify the replacement fact before changing the content. A new paragraph should resolve the underlying reader question, not merely repeat the brand name more often.
Assign a factual owner, an affected page or asset, an accepted correction and a later observation date. Rerun the same questions after the source work, but keep the before-and-after collection conditions visible. A corrected answer is useful evidence of that observation; it still does not prove every future answer will be correct.
End with the next decision and the remaining uncertainty
A good closing page states which facts changed, what the team repaired and what it needs to observe next. It can recommend a clearer product explanation, an updated official source or an additional question group based on actual gaps. It should not prescribe more creator spend solely because one visibility percentage moved.
Keep the report narrow enough to repeat. Archive its question set, response records and classification rules together. If a provider changes its interface or model labels, describe the break in comparability rather than silently joining the old and new series. That makes the report useful to the next person responsible for the campaign.
Frequently asked questions
What is AI brand visibility reporting?
It is a repeatable record of how AI assistants answer a fixed set of buyer questions about your brand and category. Each run preserves the question, the answer and the conditions, then classifies mentions, citations, recommendations and factual errors separately. The report observes only the tested conditions, not every conversation on a platform, total market demand or the number of prospective customers, and it should say so on its first page.
What counts as a mention, a citation or a recommendation in an AI visibility report?
A mention is an answer that names the intended brand, a citation is a visible source pointing to an identified page, and a recommendation is an answer that presents the brand as suitable for the stated requirement. Split citations to your own domain from third-party coverage. Apply the same rules to every compared brand, and qualify a recommendation that also warns against the relevant use case.
Which questions should an AI visibility audit test for an iGaming or crypto brand?
Build the set from real buyer language: approved sales questions, anonymised support themes, site-search terms and relevant Search Console queries, with each source recorded. Keep branded questions, which check an existing identity, apart from unbranded category questions, which check consideration among alternatives. Label editorially proposed questions as proposed and remove confidential details. Our iGaming content marketing agency team can scope the creator content and source material behind the answers you want to improve.
How do you stop AI visibility testing from producing a biased sample?
Fix the question set, schedule repeated runs before the review and log every run, including failed and refused requests. Record the exact question, service, visible model label, search mode, session state, run time and the unedited answer with its visible sources. Set a retry rule in advance, because retrying only unfavorable answers until a good one appears biases the sample. If the interface hides the model version, mark it unknown rather than guessing.
Can AI brand visibility be tied to deposits or revenue?
Not directly, so keep visibility observations, platform reports and referral data in separate lanes. A citation may receive no click, a referral does not prove the visitor saw a specific creator asset, and a depositing-player event is a different observation again. Use campaign UTM naming for links you control, but do not assume an assistant preserves tracking parameters, and report missing attribution as a limitation rather than an inferred lead count.
