Slot game launch press release: a template trade editors can run

A slot game launch press release gets picked up when it gives trade editors the game sheet in the first screen: title, studio, release date, RTP, volatility, max win, mechanics and the markets where it is live. Below is a template built in that order, the wording traps that get releases rewritten, and how to time it with streamer content.

Who reads a slot launch release

Two audiences, with different needs. Trade media and operators want the commercial facts: release date, markets, certifications and the mechanic that makes the game different. Players and streamers only see the release through operator promos and creator content later.

So write the release for the trade. Keep player-facing hype out of it; it gets cut by editors, and in some markets it becomes an advertising problem once operators reuse your copy.

The template

Headline: [Studio] releases [Game title], a [volatility] [mechanic] slot with [one distinct feature]

Dateline: [CITY], [Country], [Month Day, Year]

Paragraph 1: [Studio] today released [Game title], a [reels] by [rows] [mechanic] slot now live with [operators or aggregator] in [markets].

Paragraph 2, the feature: [How the bonus or mechanic works in two sentences, written so a reader who has never played it understands.]

Game sheet:

  • Reels and rows: [5x3, 6x5 and so on]
  • Paylines or ways: [number]
  • RTP: [main figure], with [other configurations] available
  • Volatility: [low, medium, high]
  • Max win: [multiplier] x stake
  • Bet range: [min to max], subject to market limits
  • Certified markets: [list]

Quote: "[What the team wanted the game to do differently.]" said [Name], [Title] at [Studio].

Assets: [Link to logos, screenshots, a gameplay video and a demo build for media.]

About [Studio]: [Three sentences.] Media contact [name, email].

Wording that gets a release rewritten

  • One RTP when there are several. Most studios ship more than one RTP configuration. Give the headline figure and say others exist, or an operator in another market quotes the wrong one.
  • Max win without the stake. Write it as a multiplier of the stake. A cash figure implies a stake level many markets do not allow.
  • Bet ranges that ignore market limits. Great Britain caps online slot stakes at £5 per spin, and at £2 for players aged 18 to 24. A release that boasts a high top bet gets corrected for UK readers.
  • Win talk aimed at players. "Life-changing wins" or "easy bonus" lines have no place in a trade release, and operators who reuse them take the advertising risk.
  • Features you have not certified. Bonus buy and fast spin options vary by market; list them only where they are live.

Timing the release with streamers and clips

The release gives operators a reason to feature the game. Players find it through lobby placement and creators. Line the two up:

  1. Two to three weeks before: share the demo build with the streamers who will play it, so their first session is not their first look.
  2. Release day: send the release under a morning embargo to trade editors, publish on your site, and post the gameplay video.
  3. Release week: sponsored streamer sessions go live in markets where the operator and platform allow gambling content, with disclosure and age gates.
  4. Weeks two to four: cut the best bonus rounds into short clips for the operator's social channels.

Our slot game launch streamer campaigns guide covers the streamer side step by step, including how to brief a first session. If you need the whole launch run for you, see our slot game marketing agency page.

Where to send it

Most slot news reaches operators through iGaming trade outlets and newsletters. Build a short list of the editors who already cover game releases in your markets, send each one the release with the asset link, and offer a demo login. A paid wire listing adds a public record but rarely gets the game in front of operators on its own.

Keep claims in the release consistent with what creators will say later. Our gambling influencer marketing compliance guide lists the checks we run on creator content for the same launch.

Frequently asked questions

What should a slot game press release include?

The game title, studio, release date, reels and rows, paylines or ways, RTP with other configurations, volatility, max win as a stake multiplier, certified markets, a short quote and a link to assets and a demo.

How long before launch should a slot press release go out?

Send it to trade editors under embargo a day or two before release, then publish on launch morning. Operators and streamers need the demo two to three weeks earlier than the release itself.

Should a slot launch release mention the RTP?

Yes. Trade editors and operators expect it. Give the main figure and say whether other RTP configurations are available, because operators in different markets may run different versions.

Can streamers play a slot before the official release?

They can play a demo build privately to prepare. Public sponsored streams should wait until the game is live with an operator in a market where the platform and the operator's licence allow it.

Do UK stake limits affect a slot launch release?

Yes. Online slot stakes in Great Britain are capped at £5 per spin, and at £2 for players aged 18 to 24. State bet ranges as subject to market limits so UK operators can use the release without edits.
