How to sponsor a streamer: a step-by-step guide for brands

To sponsor a streamer, a brand picks channels whose live audience matches its buyers, agrees a format and a price, writes the deliverables into a short contract and tracks each stream with its own link or code. The steps are simple; the mistakes are in casting and in measuring.

Step 1: decide what the stream should do

Pick one job: launch a product, get installs or sign-ups, drive a code, or build familiarity before a bigger push. The job decides the format, the creator size and the metric.

Step 2: find streamers whose audience fits

Look at what a streamer has broadcast in the last 30 days, not their best stream ever. Check average live viewers rather than followers, chat activity, audience country and age, and the sponsors they have run before.

A mid-size channel that streams your category every week usually beats a big name who would be doing it once.

Step 3: choose a deal format

Pricing is scoped to your brief. We reply within one working day.

Step 4: agree price and terms

Prices are usually quoted per hour live, per stream or per month, and move with average viewers, niche and exclusivity. Get the quote line by line so you can compare channels. Our streamer sponsorship rates guide shows typical ranges by channel size.

Write down hours live, minutes on screen, overlays, chat commands, pinned links, VOD retention, usage rights for clips, exclusivity, and what happens if a stream underdelivers or goes wrong. Start from our streamer sponsorship contract template so nothing is left to memory.

Step 5: disclose and stay within platform rules

The FTC expects the sponsorship to be disclosed clearly and repeated during a live stream so late viewers see it. Gambling has extra rules: Twitch requires its gambling label and bans some unlicensed sites, Kick only allows licensed and verified gambling sponsors, and YouTube bars links to unapproved gambling sites.

Step 6: track each stream

Give every streamer their own link, code or QR, and read sign-ups or sales per stream against the same days without one. Clip the best moments; good clips often keep working longer than the stream itself.

Rebook the channels that moved your number and drop the rest. A renewal decision after three streams is worth more than a long contract signed on follower count. If you would rather hand the casting and tracking to a team, that is what our streamer marketing agency does.

What to put in a streamer brief

  • The one action. What viewers should do, and the link, code or QR that tracks it.
  • Talking points, not a script. Three facts the streamer must get right, then let them speak in their own voice.
  • What not to say. Claims you cannot support, competitor mentions, and anything your market bans.
  • On-screen assets. Overlay, panel graphics and chat command text, with sizes and placement.
  • Timing. Start time, minutes on screen and when the segment repeats for late viewers.
  • Proof of delivery. VOD link, screenshots of analytics and the clip files you are entitled to.

Red flags when vetting a streamer

  • Viewers without chat. High concurrent viewers with a silent chat often means viewbots.
  • Followers far above live viewers. Big follower counts with few live viewers suggest an old or bought audience.
  • Audience in the wrong countries. You pay for reach you cannot convert or, in regulated categories, cannot legally reach.
  • Back-to-back competitor sponsors. A channel that promotes a rival every week will not move your number.
  • No analytics on request. A streamer who will not share dashboard screenshots before booking is a risk after it too.

For gambling and crypto sponsors, add the creator's age, the audience age split and a list of current sponsors to the vetting file. Regulators in the UK, Canada and US states ask about all three.

Frequently asked questions

How do you sponsor a streamer?

Choose the job, find streamers whose recent audience matches your buyers, pick a format such as an integration or dedicated stream, agree price and deliverables in writing, disclose the sponsorship and track each stream with its own link or code.

What drives the price of a stream sponsorship?

It depends on average live viewers, niche, format and exclusivity. Prices are usually quoted per hour live, per stream or per month, and small streamers can cost a fraction of a single big-name stream.

Can a small brand sponsor small streamers?

Yes. Small and mid-size streamers often have closer chat communities and lower prices, which makes them a good first test if they stream your category regularly.

How do you contact a streamer for a sponsorship?

Most list a business email in their channel panels or profile. Send a short message with the product, the dates, the format and the budget range, or work through an agency that already has the relationship.

Do streamers have to disclose sponsorships?

Yes. In the US the FTC expects clear disclosure repeated during live streams, and platforms add their own labels and rules, especially for gambling sponsors.
