Meta Partnership Ad Codes: A Creator Handoff Checklist

A partnership-ad code identifies a post-level permission route. Receiving the code is not the end of the handoff: the authorised advertiser still needs to verify the right asset and its eligibility.

Agree the asset before requesting the code

Name the final approved post or content object and the intended brand advertiser. Confirm the creator’s usage licence, term and permitted edits. Meta’s developer reference distinguishes per-post codes from account-level permission, so do not request broad standing access when one asset is the actual requirement.

The content’s commercial relationship also needs appropriate disclosure. A partnership tool is a platform control; it does not make unsupported product claims truthful or give a restricted category automatic permission to advertise.

Use a controlled handoff record

Record the creator account, content reference, authorised recipient, requested use and expiry owner. Transfer the required code through the agreed work channel. Keep passwords, login sessions and unrelated credentials out of the exchange.

A code or permission token can enable a specific use, so do not publish it in a public case study or broad project document. The production record should identify the handoff without unnecessarily reproducing sensitive access material.

Verify what the advertiser can actually use

The authorised media operator should confirm that the selected content resolves to the expected creator and asset and that the required permission is active. Meta’s reference includes readback of permission and eligibility state. A successful handoff is stronger evidence than a screenshot saying the creator enabled a setting.

Keep unresolved errors specific. Wrong asset, wrong account, missing permission and ad-category rejection are different problems. Do not ask the creator to regenerate codes repeatedly when the issue belongs to the advertiser’s access or product eligibility.

Test a hypothetical mismatch

A fictional brand commissions two cuts, but the creator sends a code for an earlier draft with an outdated claim. The advertiser notices the mismatch during readiness review and holds the placement. The team agrees a corrected approved asset and repeats the permitted handoff.

Do not quietly use the old draft because the code works. Technical permission cannot substitute for content approval. Retain the corrected asset reference so a later editor or media buyer does not select the wrong version again.

Close the permission at the right time

Assign a stop date and confirmation route for the advertiser. Align it with the content licence and any agreed extension. The creator should know how the permission can be revoked through the actual platform controls.

Keep a record of the campaign’s end and any remaining brand-controlled copies. 3betmedia’s creator handoff can supply the reviewed content and coordination record; media execution and spend decisions remain with the separately authorised operator. Do not promise that a code guarantees approval or results.

Review the wider influencer-whitelisting permissions before choosing a Meta post-level handoff.

Frequently asked questions

Does a valid code guarantee that an ad can run?

No. Content eligibility, advertiser access, product rules and the usage licence still matter. Verify the actual state before launch.

Should we request account-level permission instead?

Only when the agreed campaign needs that scope and the creator authorises it. Do not expand access merely to avoid diagnosing a post-level problem.
